Privacy Policy
The short version
True Detent: Gears collects nothing. There is no account, no login, no analytics SDK, no advertising network and no server we send anything to. The game does not need an internet connection to run.
Your progress, coins, seals and unlocked shells are written to your own device and stay there. Delete the app and they are gone with it.
01Who this policy is from
This policy explains how the mobile game True Detent: Gears (the "Game"), published by COMTECH WATER SYSTEM CORP. ("we", "us"), handles information. It applies to the Game on every platform we distribute it on, and to this website.
By installing or playing the Game you accept the practices described here. If you do not agree with them, please do not install the Game.
02Personal information we collect
None. We do not collect, receive, store, sell, rent or share any personal information about you. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number or postal address
- Your date of birth, gender or any demographic information
- Device identifiers, advertising identifiers (IDFA / GAID) or IP addresses
- Location data of any kind, precise or approximate
- Contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera input
- Usage analytics, session lengths, heat maps or crash telemetry
- Purchase, payment or billing information
We hold no database of players, because there is nothing in it to hold. We could not identify you or link a save file to a person even if we were asked to.
03What the Game stores on your device
The Game does save things — it just saves them locally, in the app's own private storage area on your phone or tablet, using the standard storage facilities the operating system provides to every app. This data is never transmitted anywhere. It includes:
- Progress — which sections and levels you have repaired, and your star rating on each
- Coins — your current balance earned through repairs and used for cosmetic shells
- Seals — which entries in the Keeper's Log you have earned
- Shells — which of Vernier's shells you have unlocked and which is equipped
- Settings — music and sound effect preferences, and your chosen language
None of this is personal information, none of it is tied to an identity, and none of it leaves the device. We have no access to it.
04Things the Game deliberately does not do
- No analytics. No Firebase, no GameAnalytics, no Adjust, no AppsFlyer, no in-house event logging.
- No advertising. No banners, no interstitials, no rewarded video, no ad-network SDK of any kind.
- No third-party SDKs that transmit data off the device.
- No accounts or login. No sign-in, no social login, no linking to platform game services.
- No cloud saves. Progress is not backed up to a server by us.
- No social features. No chat, no friends list, no leaderboards, no user-generated content.
- No in-app purchases. Coins are earned by playing and cannot be bought.
- No tracking across apps or websites, for any purpose, ever.
Because the Game does not track you across apps or websites, it does not present Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. There is nothing for it to ask permission for.
05Permissions the Game requests
The Game requests no runtime permissions. It does not ask for location, contacts, photos, storage, microphone, camera, notifications or Bluetooth. It does not require a network connection and works fully in airplane mode.
06Deleting your data
Everything the Game saves is local, so you are always in control of it:
- Deleting the app from your device removes all of its saved data permanently.
- Where the Game offers a reset option in its settings, using it clears your save immediately.
There is no request to send us and no waiting period, because there is no copy of your data anywhere else. We cannot restore a deleted save.
07Children's privacy
The Game does not collect personal information from anyone, of any age. That includes children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country, such as under 16 in parts of the European Economic Area).
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to obtain parental consent for under COPPA, the GDPR's provisions on children, or comparable laws, and no profile of a child can be built. The Game contains no advertising, no purchases and no way to communicate with other players.
08Legal bases and your rights
Data protection laws such as the GDPR (EEA and UK), the CCPA/CPRA (California), the PIPL (China) and similar regimes give you rights over personal data that a company holds about you — the right to access it, correct it, delete it, port it, and object to its processing.
We hold no personal data about you, so we carry out no processing that would require a legal basis, and there is no record for us to produce, correct, export or erase. We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. If you would like this confirmed in writing, contact us using the details in section 11 and we will respond.
09App stores and platforms
You obtain the Game through a platform we do not control, such as the Apple App Store or Google Play. Those platforms collect their own data about downloads, purchases and device information under their own privacy policies, and they may provide us with aggregated, anonymous statistics — for example how many times the Game was downloaded in a country.
That reporting is aggregate only and does not identify individual users. For what the platform itself collects, please refer to Apple's or Google's privacy policy.
10Changes to this policy
If the Game ever changes in a way that affects this policy — for example if a future version were to add cloud saves or optional purchases — we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above before that version ships. Material changes will be summarised at the top of the page.
